Downtown Austin Alliance presents 25th annual tree lighting, Downtown Holiday Stroll

The Downtown Austin Alliance is hosting the 25th annual tree lighting that will be happening at this year's Downtown Holiday Stroll.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with live music, a holiday market and photos with Santa. There will also be food trucks, live ice sculpting, and many more family-friendly holiday events.

This year FOX 7 will be hosting the tree lighting at 7 p.m. The countdown begins at the tree located at 11th St and South Congress Ave. The 45-foot tree features 137,000 LED lights and rotates through a programmed light show! Come meet Mike Warren and Rebecca Thomas as they host the tree lighting this year. You can also take pictures with FOX 7 at one of our news vehicles parked in front of Starbucks at Brazos and South Congress!

The Downtown Alliance started this tradition in 1994 with a small and spontaneous tree-lightening ceremony. The tree will stay up throughout the month of December and will play holiday songs featuring some local Austin artists including Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel, Dale Watson Vallejo, and many more.
