Election Security

As with any election we hear a lot, nationwide about hacking.

Travis County Election officials talked about hacking Tuesday.

They say the real risk to an election is impacting the confidence of voters.  For one the election system is not connected to the internet.

Election officials say the security focus with those machines is a very stringent process to make sure nothing is tampered with.

But, there are parts of the election process that are connected to the internet.

Up until two-years ago election judges would bring their returns to outside receiving stations.  Law enforcement would bring those to the central receiving station.

But, Travis County changed the process to eliminate that midway stop and, get results out faster.
