Family displaced after Northwest Austin house fire

Cleanup begins for a family whose Northwest Austin home was destroyed in a fire on February 17. It happened at around 6 p.m. at a house on Cedar Cliff Drive.

Crews reported heavy flames and smoke when they arrived on the scene. They managed to put the fire out quickly but officials say the home is a complete loss.

The Austin Fire Department says the fire caused nearly $650,000 worth of damage to the structure and contents inside.

The Red Cross is helping the five people who lived in the home.

Investigators are trying to determine what started the fire.
