Father's Day surprise for man suffering from macular degeneration

An Austin man with macular degeneration, a condition that causes the distortion or loss of central vision, was served a Father’s Day surprise at his favorite restaurant.

Kristinia Moon says her father, Myles Offer, 78, has been feeling “down and depressed,” due to his condition so she wanted to do something to lift his spirits.

Moon flew from Denver, where she lives, to Austin and coordinated with father’s favorite restaurant, VIA 313 Pizza.

So, when her father, mother and a friend arrived at their reserved table Sunday evening -- Moon was there to greet them, dressed as their waitress.

“Hi, so how can I get help you guys?” she said keeping up with the charade. “...actually we have a surprise for you guys today, we have pickled pig feet pizza for you guys is our special, so that something you would be interested in? Pickled pigs feet pizza?”

Soon, she revealed the real surprise. “Well what about if your daughter came down from Denver to surprise you?” she asked her father.

“Oh that would be cool.” he replied. “It’s me dad!” she laughed.

The two immediately embraced. It was a reunion two years in the making.

“I’m totally surprised by it!” Offer smiled.
