Fire not enough to stop services at Onion Creek Baptist Church

A much different sound echoed through the walls of the Onion Creek Baptist Church on Sunday morning. Instead of the noise of flames tearing through sections of the church. It was the spirit of three congregations coming together. Grateful to still have a place to worship in.

"We are just thankful more than anything to be together with God's people," a churchgoer said.

"We are just smiling with tears coming down our eyes, because we are so thankful for God's faithfulness," another attendee said.

Exactly one week after a fire destroyed part of the church, the doors of the church were open once again. This time with members of the Green Life Fellowship and Austin Filipino Fellowship, whom shared the church grounds prior to the fire.

"It was approximately three years ago that we came to this place and the door was opened for us and I can tell you since day one you have made us feel like family," a member of Green Life Fellowship said.

A family that has found a way to grow a little bigger in the face of a near tragedy.

"I believe that God has put us all in our own experiences, in our own lives, for such a time as this," a church member said.

The fire started last Sunday around 9 PM. It took fire fighters almost an hour to put out the fire but no one was hurt. Investigators have not yet released the cause of the fire.
