Georgetown drowning victim identified

The Georgetown Police Department have released the identity of Saturday's drowning victim on Lake Georgetown.

According to police, 36-year-old Jonathon Joe Mendosa died after his canoe tipped over Saturday evening. Mendosa and his 9-year-old son, who was also on the canoe, were not wearing any floatation devices at the time of the incident. 

Police said several people jumped into the water to help. They were able to rescue Mendosa's son however Mendosa disappeared in the water. Mendosa's body was recovered by divers around 8:30 Saturday night.
