AUSTIN, Texas - Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and organizations in Central Texas are joining in on the international day of charitable giving.
I Live Here I Give Here is on a mission to make the Central Texas community the most generous community in the country. It's asking people to take action by volunteering, hosting a food or clothing drive, fostering a pet or even visiting local museums.
Here's a look at some of the events going on today and organizations that are participating:
Colins Hope - The local water safety and drowning prevention charity is giving back its supporters and the community by hosting Water Safety with Colin & Friends curriculum which will benefit the school community of Joe Dan Mills, Jr. Elementary in South Austin by providing water safety education to students as well as education to parents and caregivers.
Austin Parks Foundation - Partnering with several businesses around town in which some of the proceeds will go to APF. The businesses include:
- Crux Climbing Center: Donating 10% of day pass sales to APF
- Feel Good Pilates: Donating 100% of the proceeds from the classes that day directly to APF
- Imperfect Produce: Donating $5 each time someone signs up for a box of ugly produce. When someone signs up for Imperfect Produce with the code PRODUCEINTHEPARK, they will save $5 of their first box and Imperfect Produce will donate $5 to APF.
