La Crosse Avenue bridge to be closed
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - The Texas Department of Transportation will be closing the La Crosse Avenue bridge over the MoPac Expressway (Loop 1) at 9 p.m. March 30. The bridge will remain closed until a new bridge is constructed over the main lanes.
According to TxDOT, South Bay Lane has been temporarily adjusted into a "free-flowing turnaround to improve mobility."
The construction is part of Phase 2 of an ongoing $53.5 million project along MoPac at the Slaughter Lane and La Crosse Avenue intersections. Construction on the project is expected to continue into early 2021.
The project aims to enhance safety for pedestrians, drivers and bicyclists; decrease wait times at the intersections; decrease overall travel time and improve left-turn movements, according to TxDOT.
