Acting Superintendent Tina Knudsen posted a statement to the Plum Elementary Facebook Page.

The statement addresses the, "District efforts to address bats at Plum Creek Elementary."

As you know, Lockhart ISD is working to address the issue of bats that have been seen at Plum Creek Elementary School, as well as an unpleasant odor that is attributed to bats that roosted in a portion of the building. Please be assured that the health and safety of our students, staff and visitors is our first priority...

LISD is working with the Texas Department of Health Services to address the situation.

The District has consulted with Texas Department of Health Services regarding any potential health or safety hazards that may exist as a result of this situation.

The letter states that areas of the building where the unpleasant odor, caused by bat droppings, is improving daily.

Although we do not expect to see any more bats, please remind students to report any bat sightings. Most importantly, students and staff should never touch a bat...

The statement also provides a timeline that outlines key dates and events in this ongoing situation.
