Man dies, another injured in two-vehicle crash on W Cesar Chavez Street
AUSTIN, Texas - A man has died and another injured in a two-vehicle crash in downtown Austin.
ATCEMS reports that EMS, fire and police units responded to the scene of the crash in the 1000 block of West Cesar Chavez Street just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night. Initial reports say two vehicles were involved with two patients, one pinned and one entrapped.
Both patients were extricated and declared trauma alerts. One, a man in his 30s, was transported to Dell Seton with serious but not expected to be life-threatening injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts, the man who had been pinned died at the scene.
EMS says to expect continued traffic closures and for drivers to avoid the area.
