Multiple grass fires burning in Bastrop County

Bastrop Fire and Police are currently working multiple fires in eastern Bastrop County.

 

Texas A&M Forest Service is now referring to the Bastrop fire as the "Luecke Fire."  Luecke Farm is located next to Buescher State Park.

 


4:07 pm - Fire service reporting Union Chapel fire completely extinguished and all fire units have cleared the scene.

3:48 pm - Lexi Maxwell with the Texas A&M Forest Service says that the 20-25 acre fire near Buescher State Park is still growing and about 10% contained.

3:23 pm - Bastrop Sheriff PIO Sissy Jones says high winds making it hard to get these fires put out. Firefighters from other counties helping

3:09 pm - Evacuating Buescher State Park due to Smithville area fire.

3:02 pm - Union Chapel Fire contained.

2:47 pm - One of STAR Flight's EC-145 helicopters is responding to the Bastrop fires. EC-145s use buckets to drop water on fire.

2:34 pm - Reported new fire in the 500 Block of Union Chapel Rd. One structure in immediate danger.

2:13 pm - Bastrop Co. SO requested additional air support from STAR Flight. There is a fixed wing aircraft en route from Fredricksburg for further support.

1:52 pm - Bastrop County Sheriffs Office tweeted that MD Anderson research facility in Smithville currently evacuating due to fire.

1:39 pm - STAR Flight reporting Smithville fire approximately 8 acres large. Heavy brush in the area with no structures appearing to be endanger.

1:34 pm - Fire in the 2900 Block SH21 in Paige, TX currently 75% contained.

1:22 pm - 20 acre fire reported on Easley Road in Smithville. 

12:37 pm - Crews working a large hay fire NE of the intersection of SH 21E and US 290 in Paige.
