A U.S. government meteorologist is facing sex abuse charges after police say he took advantage of a teenage boy he was mentoring.

According to court documents, David Soroka, a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), is accused of taking a 13-year-old boy into a place called a "room of pain" inside a house on Elmwood Court in Rockville where he would suck on the boy’s feet.

Court documents say over the course of a year, Soroka would take the boy into a room and have him sit in a chair while the 51-year-old would lie on the floor and smell the victim’s feet. As time went by, the victim told police the smelling of his feet advanced to licking and sucking of his bare feet and toes.

The teenager told detectives in return for allowing Soroka to do this, he would get "candy, soda and other treats.” The victim also said the two would wrestle before and after, according to the statement of charges.

Soroka told the boy to keep it a secret, the court documents stated.

Police began investigating the case in late July. In mid-August, there was a controlled phone call between Soroka and a family friend in which the suspect allegedly admitted to “doing something immature and inappropriate.”

NOAA says Soroka has been placed on administrative leave from his job as a meteorologist out of the Silver Spring office.

FOX 5 attempted to speak with Soroka at his home on Tuesday, but no one answered the door. We also reached out to his attorney, but have not received a response as of Tuesday evening.

Police have declined to comment on the case that will go before District Court in Montgomery County on Nov. 2.
