Pflugerville Aldi grocery store to open its doors Nov. 2

The Pflugerville Aldi store will open on Nov. 2. Located at 1415 FM 685, it is the first Austin-area Aldi, which has 1,600 stores in 35 states.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, open to the public, is at 8:25 a.m. on opening day. Following the ceremony, giveaways and a tour of the store will be offered.

“We’re thrilled to join the Pflugerville community and offer customers the benefits of the Aldi shopping experience,” Division Vice President Karla Waddleton said. “Our stores are simple to navigate, so it’s easy for shoppers to get in, get what they need and continue on with their day knowing they left with a shopping cart full of groceries that fit their lifestyle and save them money.”

With input from customers, the Pflugerville store presents a new look when compared with the company’s other stores, including more room for the produce, dairy and bakery sections. Aldi stores feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials, such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.

Aldi offers a full range of groceries with its own exclusive product lines, including organic selections, USDA Choice meats, gluten-free and baby products. Aldi finds, which vary week to week with seasonal themes, include premium food and household products only available for a limited time.

The company is known for practices it implements as cost-cutting measures. For a cart, customers insert a quarter. When the cart is returned to the corral, the quarter is returned to the customer. Other cost-savings measures include a smaller store footprint, open carton displays and customers are encouraged to bring their own shopping bags.

The store will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
