PFLUGERVILLE, Texas - The Pflugerville Police Department is looking to encourage kids to be safe outdoors with their summer safety campaign.
Children "caught" practicing safe actions outdoors by a Pflugerville police officer will be given a "ticket" as part of the "Cool Moves" program.
The ticket will include a coupon for free ice cream that's redeemable at a local participating restaurant.
According to Pflugerville PD, officers give out over 500 tickets each summer.
Examples of "cool moves" include wearing a helmet while riding a bike, scooter, skateboard or rollerskates; crossing at a crosswalk; obeying all traffic laws and using correct hand signals while riding a bike; and stopping at a curb to look both ways before crossing the street.
The campaign is from Saturday June 1 to Saturday August 31.
