Pflugerville PD encourages kids to be safe with "Cool Moves" program

The Pflugerville Police Department is looking to encourage kids to be safe outdoors with their summer safety campaign.

Children "caught" practicing safe actions outdoors by a Pflugerville police officer will be given a "ticket" as part of the "Cool Moves" program.

The ticket will include a coupon for free ice cream that's redeemable at a local participating restaurant.

According to Pflugerville PD, officers give out over 500 tickets each summer.

Examples of "cool moves" include wearing a helmet while riding a bike, scooter, skateboard or rollerskates; crossing at a crosswalk; obeying all traffic laws and using correct hand signals while riding a bike; and stopping at a curb to look both ways before crossing the street.

The campaign is from Saturday June 1 to Saturday August 31.
