A giant pumpkin in Denmark is making the rounds on the internet after weighing nearly a ton.
The pumpkin won the Danish Giant Pumpkin Championship last week, and has been transformed alongside its competitors into special Halloween creations.
By the numbers:
This year’s winner weighed 1,991 lbs. - which is roughly the same weight as a male African buffalo or a small compact car. It’s also just a couple hundred pounds shy of weighing one ton, which is 2,204 lbs.

The other competing pumpkins weighed between 180-969 lbs.
Local perspective:
The pumpkins were transformed by a local artist into giant pumpkin lanterns that are on display at a well-known tourist attraction in Copenhagen, Tivoli Gardens.
Some of the Jack-o’-lantern arts showed off a spooky side with creepy eyes and gnashing teeth, while others had sweet smiles.
What they're saying:
"Each pumpkin has its own shape, colour, and personality, and it’s a fun challenge to bring out the best in them," Malik Mabe said.
He carved the pumpkins for several hours on multiple days to get them ready for their big lighting display Halloween night.

What's next:
The pumpkins will eventually be donated to a local zoo after Halloween season, where elephants and other animals will enjoy them as a seasonal treat.
