Prescribed burn planned for Austin Water Wildlands on Wednesday

The Austin Water’s Wildland Conservation said they will be conducting a prescribed burn on 27 acres of Austin’s Water Quality Protection Lands on Wednesday, January 27.

The conservation are alerting the community that smoke may be visible north of FM 967, west of FM 1626 and east of FM 1826 from noon to sunset.

The conditions, such as wind speed and direction, will be monitored closely throughout the day and the burn will be rescheduled if conditions become unsuitable.

There will be extensive patrols around the burned area for at least a week after the fire.
