Public notice to boil water in West Travis County
October 26, 2016—Due to a break in a water main, West Travis County Public Utility Agency’s (WTCPUA) customers, located along and either side of U. S. Highway 290 between Circle Drive and the Travis – Hays County Line, experienced a period of low pressure or water outage.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires the West Travis County Public Utility Agency (WTCPUA) to notify customers within the subject area of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.
The effective date of the boil water notice is October 26, 2016 until canceled by the WTCPUA.
The neighborhoods within the WTCPUA service territories impacted by the boil water notice include:
- Scenic Brook Estates Subdivision
- Ledgestone Terrace Road area
- Spring Valley Road area
- Fitzhugh Road area
- Derecho Road area
- West Circle Drive area
- Rockway Drive area
- Vicki/Weir Loop area and other surrounding communities.
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil for two minutes. This notice is given as a precaution to ensure destruction of any harmful bacteria that may have become present when water pressure dropped below 20 psi. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable public drinking water source.
As soon as the results from the collected samples are available, WTCPUA representatives will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.
