San Marcos Veterans Day parade canceled, city to honor veterans
SAN MARCOS, Texas— The City of San Marcos is still cleaning up after the Halloween floods, and because of that, resources for this weekend's Veterans Day Parade are not available.
Even if it rains, the city of San Marcos will celebrate Veteran's Day on Saturday, at the city's Activities Center. City officials said they are still finding a way to honor the men and women who have served our country.
There will be a breakfast and entertainment, even opportunities for kids to win free bikes. The parade's Grand Marshals, two veterans, will be the guests of honor.
One of them, Guadalupe Flores, is a Vietnam War Veteran. The other, 101 year-old Frank C. Auten, Jr., served in WWII, as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
