Senator Elizabeth Warren draws crowds to Annie's List 15th anniversary celebration

Annie’s list an organization that endorses and trains democratic women in state and local offices across the Texas celebrated their 15th anniversary Friday at the Long Center of Performing Arts. An estimated 2, 300 people attended to hear guest speaker U.S Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Senator Warren is a UT alum who is known for consumer advocacy and fights for the middle class and encourages women to run for office. She shared her story of her long and strenuous career while being a mother. She thanked her aunt for helping her take care of her children when she thought she was giving up. Warren said she intends on continuing to fight for families and women equality.

“Women candidates are not novelties we are not symbols we are not luxuries for democrats to support when it’s convenient or safe or easy we are the fighters who know better than anyone that we must change the face of power in our economy in our government and in our country,” Warren said.

Annie’s List had a goal of raising $65,000 by the end of the event and surpassed that amount in less than an hour.
