Students 'Mooov-In' to University of Texas

It's a tradition that's been going on for 23 years and "Mooov-In" has helped students get settled into the 14 on campus residence halls at the University of Texas.

The goal is to created a smooth transition for incoming students. It gives them a welcoming environment that will hopefully prepare them to graduate in four years.

Some 7,400 students are expected to move in to the residence halls. They come from 40 states and 35 countries.

About 300 faculty members, staffers and student volunteers will be helping the new Longhorns.

This year it's estimated that 76% of students living on campus will be freshman.

"Mooov-In" officially kicks off "Longhorn Welcome" which is a series of events for incoming first year and transfer students. The events give them a chance to find their community on a campus of more than 51,000 students.

"Longhorn Welcome" runs through September 4th with 10 events including "Gone to Texas", "Horns Up Night" and "Party on the Plaza".

Classes at UT start on August 24.
