Teen girl injured after shooting in East Austin

A 16-year-old girl is seriously hurt with potentially life threatening injuries after a shooting in East Austin. It happened just before midnight and police say they do not have any suspects in custody.

Austin/Travis County EMS said on social media that the shooting took place in the 900 block of Bedford Street.

There is limited information about the incident. Police and medics responded at around 11:45 p.m. and when they arrived the found the girl injured from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital.

This was the third shooting that happened in Austin over the weekend.

On Saturday there was a incident in the 1700 block of Saracen Road in West Austin just before 5 p.m. A trauma alert was sent out for a man in his 20s who was taken to the hospital with potentially life threatening injuries from multiple gunshot wounds. A teenaged boy was also taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. In this incident, police said three suspect, all minors, were detained at the scene.

Minutes later after the Saracen Road incident, medics responded to a shooting on Mearns Meadow Boulevard in North Austin. A man in his 20s was killed. Homicide detectives are investigating the case as suspicious. It's not clear if anyone is in custody.
