Texas deputy joins high school drumline, wows crowd

A Texas deputy's drumming skills are going viral, all thanks to a video posted online.

The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office shared a video to the department's Facebook page showing Deputy Sheriff A.J. Mendez joining the Poteet High School marching band's drumline in a football game on Saturday night.

According to local news reports,the Sheriff's Office said Mendez is a proud 2005 Poteet High School graduate who was a member of the high school band. Deputy Mendez also acts as an escort for the band at games.

The students in the stands cheered him on as he joined the drumline's performance in the stand--and didn't miss a beat! The video has now been shared over 39,000 times and viewed over 2 million times.

Mendez has been with the department for 2 years, and the Sheriffs' Office says in the post that the video was a part of their effort to express how much their community matters.
