The Vietnam War Summit at LBJ Presidential Library

The Vietnam War Summit begins at the LBJ Presidential Library. The three day event focuses on the turbulent war, its impact and the men and women who served. Some of the world's top politicians and security advisors will be in Austin for the event.

Notable people expected to speak included current U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and journalist Dan Rather. 

Kissinger is to speak tonight about his experiences during the Vietnam War and the American military withdrawal.

Programming includes some events that are open to the public, a historical museum exhibit, documentaries and interviews with veterans.

Kerry is expected to speak tomorrow (4/27) about his experiences as a soldier fighting in Vietnam, then as a war protester and now a politician.

Organizers say the goal is to recognize the men and women who served in Vietnam and shed a definitve light on the war, its lessons and legacy.

The Vietnam War Summit starts at 11 a.m. with a special ceremony and warps up Thursday (4/28). 

April 30 marks the 41st anniversary of the Fall of Saigon.
