Thunderbirds to perform Super Bowl flyover Sunday
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Demonstration Squadron has been practicing in Atlanta’s skies over the last few days.
The team will be flying over Mercedes-Benz Stadium Sunday evening as part of the opening ceremony of Super Bowl LIII.
Atlanta-singer Gladys Knight will be performing the national anthem during that ceremony.
SKYFOX 5 got a good look of them Thursday and Friday as they buzzed over Atlanta. It also got a good look inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the roof obviously open, as they practiced for the ceremony.
The roof will likely be open Sunday as the weather has warmed and the rain is staying away for now.
