President Trump is threatening "much higher levels" of tariffs if the European Union does not implement new trade deal commitments before July 4.

Trump posted the warning on Truth Social, saying he’s been waiting patiently for them to fulfill their side of the deal.

What they're saying:

"A promise was made that the EU would deliver their side of the Deal and, as per Agreement, cut their Tariffs to ZERO! I agreed to give her until our Country’s 250th Birthday or, unfortunately, their Tariffs would immediately"

Last Friday, Trump raised tariffs on EU vehicles to 25% because the EU was not complying with the terms of a deal they agreed with last July in Scotland.

The European Union was supposed to cut their tariffs on U.S. industrial goods and give duty-free quotas on certain American farm and sea produce. However, the legislation was slowly moving through the European Parliament.

The European Parliament trade committee chair, Bernd Lange said that the EU governments are looking to finalize a deal to close duties on U.S. goods, but they still have "some way to go" before they are completed.

Lawmakers there were looking to have tougher safeguards when implementing legislation, to include suspending the deal if the U.S. fails to comply.
