Police say two people died, after their boat, carrying five people total, crashed into a concrete barge.

“At the time of the crash it was very dark out here so we don't know exactly what played a role this collision,” Austin Police Department Senior Officer Marcus Davis said.

Police say when they got to the scene, they found three people with minor injuries, and one dead.  One other person transported by Starflight to a nearby hospital. That person later died.

“We do know that one person was wearing a life jacket. They are not required to wear them but required to have them on their vessel,” Davis said.

Pradip Dhaduk was camping over the weekend, and says he heard what he believes to be the early morning boaters.

“Around 5:00 in the morning there was really loud music, it was very unusual for a park sight,” Dhaduk said.

Dhaduk believes he heard the moment of impact, shortly after.

“Then we hear a lot of racing sounds like boats going back and forth and a lot of loud music and then a huge bang. Then the sound just died off immediately,” Dhaduk said.

He later saw emergency units, Starflight and police flood the scene which he says startled his children.

“They were a bit shaken because of the sound and all the choppers hovering above the tent,” he said.

Police are not releasing any names right now. For now, they are reminding boaters of a safety tip, before coming out to the lake.

“If you're out here please do not drink and boat,” Davis said.
