Two people ejected from boat rescued southwest of Pennybacker Bridge
AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Two people were rescued southwest of the Pennybacker Bridge after reportedly being ejected from their boat going around 30 mph Sunday afternoon.
Rescue crews were called to a reported water rescue in the 1700 block of City Park Road where there were initial reports of an overturned boat with people in the water around 4:18 p.m.
Bystanders advised that the two onboard were transported to the shore by another boat where they were evaluated.
The two, a man and woman both in their 60s, were declared trauma alerts by ATCEMS medics on scene and transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious, but not expected to be life-threatening injuries.
It is unknown if the waterway they were in was included in the waterway ban issued by Austin Fire Chief Joel Baker on Saturday due to Friday's heavy rains. The waterway ban is in effect until noon Monday, May 6 and covers Lake Austin from Mansfield Dam to Tom Miller Dam, Lady Bird Lake and the Colorado River downstream of the Longhorn Dam.
