49ers cheerleader takes knee during anthem at San Francisco-Oakland 'Battle of the Bay'
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - A San Francisco 49ers cheerleader took a knee during the national anthem just before Thursday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
The mystery cheerleader has not spoken publicly about her motives just before the "Battle of the Bay." But her image was captured on camera, which has gone viral on Twitter. Comments on social media ranged from calling her a hero to those outraged with her stance.
None of the football players took a knee at this game where the Niners beat the Raiders 34 to 3, and fights ending up breaking out in the stands at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
It’s been two years since former 49er Colin Kaepernick first took a knee as a silent protest against social injustice.
He is still seeking NFL employment and has filed suit against the National Football League accusing the
NFL of colluding to keep him off the field because of the player protests that he started.
As of Friday morning, Kaepernick had not addressed the cheerleader on social media.
