Bowie Bulldogs begin new era

Bowie Bulldogs hold their first football practice of the season and are beginning a new era in a new district.

Jeff Ables and his team are now picked to win the newly formed District 14-6A after slugging it out with state powers Lake Travis and Westlake for years.

"Nothing's really changed in that regard. We just talk about everyday we just have to show up, work hard and get after it. We're not worried about anybody else right now. We're more concerned about us. Predictions aren't worth much at all so you have to go out and prove it everyday," Ables says.

Players echo the sentiments of Ables.

Austin Fuller says, "I think we've got more of a chip on our shoulder this year because it seems to us like we weren't worthy of being in the other district like the other teams were because they consider us worse than them. So we've really got something to prove this year."

Paul Saucedo says, "We know that the teams we're going to play this year are going to be really good, competitive teams and that basically puts a target on our backs...We just hopefully will compete to the best of our abilities."
