A benefit concert at the legendary Poodie's Roadhouse in Spicewood brought the community together to raise money for victims of the recent Texas Hill Country floods.

The setup will also translate into no hurricane concerns for the continental United States for the foreseeable future, as developing cyclones will turn away from North America into the open Atlantic.

Hurricane Erin’s core missed the U.S., but the cyclone led to flooded roadways and eroded dunes. Coastal flooding was reported in North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York.

The new protections come after the devastating July Fourth floods in the Texas Hill Country that claimed the lives of dozens of young campers.

A couple who lost their home in the July 4th floods is feeling hopeful. A foundation has committed to utilizing $40 million to help community members with housing needs, including rebuilding their home.

$40 million has been pledged to a new housing fund for Kerr County flood victims through the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

Thousands of people were evacuated off parts of North Carolina's Outer Banks amid the threat of a storm surge. Meanwhile, beaches remained off limits along the East Coast as dangerous waves and rip currents slammed shorelines.

Hurricane Erin remains a powerful Category 2 hurricane with winds of 110 mph. However, the National Hurricane Center said additional strengthening is likely over the next day or so, and Erin could become a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) by Wednesday night.
