15-year-old in custody in connection to deadly shooting at Sonic in La Marque

LA MARQUE, Texas - Police say a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection to a shooting that left an 18-year-old man dead and another man injured.

The shooting reportedly occurred in a Sonic parking lot in La Marque on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the men drove themselves to an urgent care clinic in Texas City, where one of the men died.

The man killed in the shooting was identified as Miles Mitchell, 18. His older brother was also shot and is still hospitalized.

A 15-year-old was taken into custody around 3 a.m. Monday. He is being detained in the Galveston County Juvenile Justice Center.

La Marque Police Department Lt. Chad Waggonor says the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a marijuana transaction that the 15-year-old and the other two men were meeting in the parking lot to conduct.
