AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department has identified a pedestrian who died after being hit in South Austin last week.
Jacob Boelter, 41, died from his injuries at the hospital after he was hit by two cars while walking on Bluff Springs Road just south of E William Cannon Drive.
APD says a preliminary investigation shows Boelter was in the inside southbound lane on Feb. 7 just before 1:30 a.m. when a 2015 black Nissan Rogue hit him.
After being hit, Boelter ended up in the inside northbound lane where he was struck by a 2002 green Mazda Protégé traveling northbound.
He was transported to St. David's South Austin Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just before 3:30 a.m.
APD says the driver of the Nissan contacted police when he heard there had been a fatality and his SUV has since been impounded. The Mazda remained on scene and no arrests have been made.
