Austin police looking for man who attacked woman in Southwest Austin

Austin police are looking for a man they say attacked a woman from behind in a Southwest Austin greenbelt Saturday afternoon

APD officers responded to an aggravated assault call around 1:02 p.m. in the 4600 block of Monterey Oaks Boulevard near the Archstone Greenbelt. 

According to APD, a woman was alone on a trail in a secluded area of the greenbelt when she was attacked from behind. She was able to fight off the suspect who ran away. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she is in stable condition.

APD says the suspect acted alone. He is described as a 5'7" black male in his mid to late 20s with a medium build, dark complexion and Nigerian accent. He was last seen wearing sweatpants with a grey or black T-shirt.

APD is asking the community to be vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times.
