Austin police investigating homicide at downtown gas station
AUSTIN - Police are investigating a homicide in downtown Austin early Saturday morning.

What we know:
Police were called to the Citgo gas station on East 7th Street in downtown Austin around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Officers were told that there was a man armed with a gun in the gas station's parking lot.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a man inside a vehicle with possible gunshot wounds.
Officers attempted life-saving measures, until Austin-Travis County EMS arrived at the scene.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police say a man was detained at the scene, but is no longer in police custody.
What we don't know:
Police have not given any information about the victim, or what they believe was the reason for the homicide.
Investigators are working to identify a suspect. No description has been released.
Footage of the area is being reviewed and they are interviewing witnesses.

"Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and no ongoing threat to the public," said Austin Public Information Officer Jeremy Fisher.
