Bee Cave Bob: Austin's answer to Punxsutawney Phil

Punxsutawney Phil says we're in for 6 more weeks of Winter.

Well who needs Phil when here in Texas we've got "Bee Cave Bob" the Armadillo?

Armadillo Day is a Texas tradition held at the "West Pole" in Bee Cave.

T. Boothe says much like the groundhog up north, if "Bee Cave Bob" goes back in his hole, we're stuck with more cold weather.

But the big difference between Armadillos and groundhogs: Armadillos will predict the political climate too! If Bob goes left, we're in for a liberal year -- if he goes right, conservative.

Boothe says they usually just make him go to the right which is where these cowboys admittedly want him to go but today, Bob was all over the place!

“I guess we have to concur that with all of the fake news and draining the swamp and all that other kind of stuff that we're going to have an anarchy year because nobody can agree on anything! So we'll call it that," said M.C. “Dr. Al Manac”

"Year after year we would be barraged with the Punxsutawney Phil out of Pennsylvania predicting the coming of Spring, I got indignant and refused to do it, gathered my colleagues and said ‘look we're going to predict our own weather using the State of Texas official mammal which is the Armadillo. We wrote a nasty letter to Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania," said T. Boothe.

As for his seasonal prediction, Bee Cave Bob tried to head back into his hole but ended up staying outside so for all of us here in Texas, get your tractors ready…Spring is on the way.
