CapMetro new bus and train routes begin service

CapMetro is adding new services to both its train and bus routes.

Metro Express bus service is being increased by 50% and it officially started on January 7th but today is the true test to see how it will help with weekday traffic.

People traveling from the Austin, Leander and Lakeline areas are now able to take full advantage of MoPac's new express lanes. Two routes will use the lanes to bypass traffic congestion and come into downtown Austin directly.

MetroRail service is adding three new trip for each of the morning nad evening commutes to provide better service and help with overcrowded trains.

CapMetro recently bought four new trains thanks to a multi-million dollar grant. A spokesperson says they eventually want a train running every 15 minutes.

Officials say these new expansions have been a process in the making and something commuters need.
