Deputy shot while serving warrant, in critical condition

A Texas deputy was shot and critically injured while serving a federal warrant in La Grange. 

According to the La Grange Police Department, officers went to serve a felony warrant for failing to register as a sex offender after 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 1 at a Dollar General Store in La Grange. The suspect resisted, pulled a knife, escaped to his motel room and barricaded himself in. 

The officers attempted to serve the warrant again and the suspect began shooting at them. A deputy with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office who was assisting was injured during the shooting and has been taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

 

 

The La Grange Police Department was assisted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office during this incident.

The suspect was barricaded for about four hours before he was taken into custody.
