Donations pouring in for mass shooting victims and families
ORLANDO, Fla. - Millions of dollars have already been raised for the Pulse Nightclub victims and their families.
A GoFundMe account was set up by Equality Florida, which is a LGBT civil rights organization. The goal is to raise $5 million, and by late Tuesday afternoon, the page had already raised nearly $4 million.
The City of Orlando has also launched its own fundraising website, called OneOrlando Fund. "The purpose of the Fund is to provide a way to help respond to the needs of our community, now and in the time to come, after the effects of the Pulse nightclub tragedy," said Dyer in statement sent to FOX 35.
Several organizations have announced contributions to the OneOrlando Fund. Walt Disney Company has said it will donate $1 million. Darden Restaurants is donating $500,000. The Orlando Magic, JetBlue, and Florida Blue are donating $100,000 each. Mears Transportation will be donating $50,000.
Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer, says it's important for us to come together to help the victims.
