More than 42,000 trimmer mowers recalled over fire hazard

DR Power Equipment is recalling about 42,860 Pilot and Premier walk-behind trimmer mowers because grass and debris can accumulate inside the machines and ignite, posing serious injury and death hazards.

The recall, announced Oct. 8, 2026, involves orange-and-black trimmer mowers sold nationwide at Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply Co., Bomgaars, other home improvement and hardware stores, independent power equipment retailers and online at DRPower.com.

The recalled products were sold from November 2022 through July 2026 for between $380 and $550. About 340 additional units were sold in Canada.

The affected machines include Pilot and Premier models with the following model numbers:

  • T4X1076DMN
  • T4X1076DMNR
  • T4X1076DMNSD
  • T4X1176DMN
  • T4X1176DMN-1
  • T4X1176DMNR
  • TR43076DMN
  • TR43076DMNR

All serial numbers are included in the recall.

The model number is printed on a label on the side of the product’s frame. The machines have the DR Power logo on top of the motor and on the frame above the cutter head. The side of the frame is labeled "Premier" or "Pro."

Why you should care:

DR Power Equipment has received 19 reports of the trimmer mowers catching fire. Two reports involved minor injuries, including blisters on the hands and feet.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled trimmer mowers and contact DR Power Equipment for a free repair kit. Consumers who need help installing the kit can arrange a free repair through an authorized dealer.
