FOX-7 Discussion: State senator travels to Russia
AUSTIN, Texas - A Republican State Senator, from north Texas is being called a traitor on social media for going to Russia to meet with the Russian foreign relations committee.
Don Huffines and his twin brother were spotted in Moscow, Monday in a meeting with U.S. Senator Rand Paul and Russian officials.
When questioned about the reason for his trip and, who is paying for it, Huffines tweeted, Tuesday morning:
"Why is he there?" - I’m having frank discussions with Russian officials on election integrity. I’m telling them “don't mess with Texas elections!"
"Who's paying for it?" me. Personally. Not taxpayers, not my campaign.”
FOX-7 Austin’s Rebecca Thomas talked to Travis County GOP executive director, Gary Teal and, Glenn Smith from Progress Texas about the tweet.
