Gun confiscated from Georgetown ISD student

GEORGETOWN, Texas— An East View High School student was found to be in possession of a handgun early Tuesday, according to officials.

EVHS coaches said the firearm was found in the men’s athletic locker room after all athletes were instructed to leave the room for practice— with the exception of a student under the care of training staff, Georgetown ISD said.

According to the coaches, when the trainer returned to check on the student, he found that six students stayed back in the locker room, with one male student in possession of a firearm.

The staff member immediately confiscated the gun and police were notified. GISD said the parents of all students involved were also notified.

The incident is still being investigated, but reports suggest the students involved were passing the gun around and posing for pictures.

Law enforcement has been questioning those involved. Officials say once the investigation is complete, the district will take appropriate disciplinary actions against all students involved.
