Man shot by APD SWAT officer after barricading himself in Lockhart home identified: police
LOCKHART, Texas - A man accused of shooting someone, barricading himself inside a Lockhart home, and being shot by an Austin police SWAT officer, has been identified.
"The word around the neighborhood is, wow," said Dorothy Jennings who lives in the neighborhood.
Police said on Saturday, Jan. 11, around 3 p.m., multiple officers responded to a neighborhood near Highway 183 and Commerce Street in south Lockhart for reports of a man being shot. According to court documents, the victim was standing in a driveway after being shot in his arm.
The victim was taken to the hospital, and later released.
He told police he was shot by Jesus Marcos Manzano Jr.

Police say the suspect ran to a house on First Street after shooting the victim and barricaded himself inside.
"They did get on the mic and try to tell him to come out. And we did hear a lot of mic talk," said Jennings.
The Austin Police Department and their SWAT team assisted Lockhart officers in the situation.
Manzano Jr. resisted arrest, and Austin police said an officer shot him in the stomach around 8 p.m.
"I did hear a couple of shots fired. I'm thinking about three. But they were kind of very muffled. And then I think it topped it off with one good loud shot," said Jennings.
Police later found Manzano Jr. in possession of a small gray rifle which was used in the shooting earlier in the day.

Manzano Jr. has since been released from the hospital and was booked into the Caldwell County Jail, Lockhart police said. He’s being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
"Off the jump is scary. Any crime in your neighborhood is going to be scary. But this, of course, was scary. Wow, especially for Lockhart," said Jennings.
Manzano Jr. also has a prior record in Travis County for an Assault With Injury Family Violence in 2007. According to court documents, a family member claimed he assaulted them. He pleaded guilty and served two years.
APD says the officer who shot at Manzano Jr. was placed on administrative leave.
The Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing this incident, and the DPS Texas Rangers are the lead investigating agency.
