Man accused of vandalizing American flags in Denton surrenders
DENTON, Texas - The person accused of ripping American flags from a display at the Denton County courthouse earlier this week turned himself in to police.
Matthew Emerson Reynolds, 29, is charged with criminal mischief.
Police said surveillance cameras recorded him as he rode a bike up to the display in Denton Square and tossed nine flags into the street.
The flag is one of hundreds the Denton Rotary Club places around town throughout the year as part of an annual fundraiser.
If convicted, Reynolds could face up to 180 days in jail and fines.
