Michael Jackson’s hit "Thriller" is back in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, propelling the King of Pop once again into music history.

The backstory:

Jackson’s "Thriller" single was released on Jan. 23, 1984, and hit No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 that year.

By the numbers:

Billboard says following Halloween, "Thriller" went from No. 32 to No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.  Now the King of Pop is the first artist to ever rank in the top 10 in six distinct decades - the  1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and now the 2020s.

Big picture view:

Jackson takes over the top spot from the late Andy Williams whose "It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" landed in the top 10 in five decades, the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 2010s and 2000s.

The album "Thriller" was released on Nov. 29, 1982 and has sold over 100 million copies around the world, making it the top-selling album of all time.
