Police identify teens killed in Kyle hit-and-run

The teenagers who were killed in a hit-and-run over the weekend have been identified. The driver, 61-year-old Macario M. Hernandez, fled the crash on foot but was quickly located by deputies. 

16-year-old Payton Weissman and 18-year-old Hayden Weissman were killed in the accident on Saturday, April 27. Three others were also injured in the crash. 

Both girls were students at Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas.

According to a release from the city, a Honda sedan with five passengers was struck by a Dodge pickup truck at the intersection of Windy Hill Road and the northbound I-35 access road around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday.  Payton Weissman and Hayden Weissman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Three other passengers in the sedan were transported to an area hospital.

Hernandez was booked into the Hays County Jail on two charges of accident causing death and three counts of accident causing serious bodily injury.

Police say additional charges could be filed pending toxicology results.
