Police investigating fight at MISD Excel Academy, principal assaulted
The Manor Police Department is investigating a fight that took place at MISD Excel Academy on Wednesday.
According to the City of Manor Facebook page, Manor Police responded to and handled a large fight at MISD Excel Academy. The school was placed on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes.
Six students were arrested after an assault on the school principal.
According to the Manor Police Department, this all started after 1:30 p.m. at the Manor Placement Campus when a 17-year-old wasn't allowed to get on a bus that takes students to lunch.
It is unclear at this time why the student was not being allowed on that school bus.
Officers were told that the principal, Dr. Jones, was between 17-year-old Osifo Cameron and the bus trying to calm him down when Cameron tried to push past him and then became physical and started throwing punches.
Officers were called to help and while they were trying to handcuff Cameron, five other students got involved.
in total. two juveniles and four adults were taken into custody.
Cameron is facing charges of assault on a public servant. The other five are facing charges for interference with public duties. The principal suffered minor injuries but is expected to be okay.
