Rain chances on the rise Saturday evening, night
AUSTIN, Texas - An upper-level system is headed towards central Texas. It will bring clouds and a little bit of rain to the Austin Metro.
The system is mostly dry and doesn’t have much energy after moving over the Rocky Mountains and dropping most of its rain out west. It will have some moisture and will gather a little more from the Gulf of Mexico as it approaches.
That means rain chances are on the rise this evening and especially tonight.
Rain will be light and showery but a few areas could get brief periods of moderate or very short periods of locally heavy rain. Rain totals will be barely 1/10th of an inch so flooding won’t be possible through slick roads and areas of poor visibility will occur briefly.
Rain will move out and the clouds clear out Sunday morning leaving a really nice day to round out the weekend. The next chance for rain comes Tuesday with another soaking rain likely Thursday and Friday.
