Man killed in Round Rock officer-involved shooting identified

Police have identified the man shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting in Round Rock on Tuesday.

Round Rock police said 50-year-old Adam MacLean, of Round Rock, was identified as the suspect.

In accordance with department policy, SWAT Officer Nathan Sosa, who has been with the RRPD since 2020, was placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues. 

The Texas Rangers, with assistance from the Round Rock Police Department, are investigating the shooting.

Background

On Jan. 7, around 9:40 p.m., a 911 caller reported an erratic driver crashed on Westinghouse Road near Texas Crushed Stone. 

After leaving the scene, MacLean ran into a wooded area. He was later found using drones.

When found, MacLean began shooting at the drones and officers.

One officer shot MacLean during the encounter. Police also said MacLean suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

No officers were injured.
