Shooting in Downtown Austin leaves one injured
A man is recovering at UMC Brackenridge after being shot this afternoon in downtown Austin. The incident happened a little before 1:30 P.M. with several shots being fired at the Arch.
The center is one of the support locations for Austin's transient population and it's typically crowded there during the lunch hour.
As officers secured the scene, the alleged gun man was caught a block away, hiding under a car in a parking lot near the corner of 8th and San Jacinto.
The man who was shot, is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds, there is conflicting information about his condition. Currently, it's unclear if both men are regulars at the center-and if the shooting was the result of a hold up or a fight.
The shooting and the chase that followed with police caused a brief lock-down at St. David's Episcopal Church which has a school.
