Student arrested after allegedly making threat to McCallum High School

The Austin Police Department arrested Antonio Denzel Miles Wicks, 18, for allegedly making threats against McCallum High School.

According to a letter sent home to families, the district was alerted last night to a student making verbal threats against the campus. A district spokesperson said they could not get into details about the threat and said the investigation has been turned over to APD.

The letter states extra officers patrolled the school Wednesday morning as a precaution.

Wicks was arrested before classes began.

The letter stated in part, “The district takes all such threats seriously. Threats of any kind against our school, students or staff are not tolerated. Please emphasize to your children that all such threats-made verbally or over any social media channel-are investigated immediately. Students may be detained or arrested on a charge of making a terroristic threat, even if the threat is not credible."

Wicks is facing charges of terroistic threat.
